Susan Wojcicki was one of Google’s earliest employees and has served it throughout her life. She played a significant role in creating the tech giant that we now know as Google.

On Friday night at the age of 56, she lost her life to lung cancer.

After her death news, many famous faces came forward and told the media about her. One of those was Sundar Pichai who is the CEO of YouTube owner Google, and he said,” I am one of countless Googlers who is better for knowing her”. In adding to it he said, “She is as core to the history of Google as anyone, and it’s hard to imagine the world without her”.

From their statements about her, it was seen that she was the core person of Google and Google has faced a huge loss since her death.

She came from a very simple, decent family, and was born in 1968 in Santa Clara, California. She did her schooling at Stanford University and also lived there as her father was an experimental particle physicist at the university.

In their Silicon Valley house, they rented their garage portion to her friends named, Sergey Brin, and Larry Page.

At that time Susan was working at Intel company, but left it to experience her marketing skills. Then she joined Google as its 16th employee, where she brought her marketing skills to emerging search operations.

In her last year statements, she clearly wrote,” Twenty-five years ago I made a decision to join a couple of Stanford graduates who were building a new search engine. Their names were Larry and Sergey. I saw the potential of what they were building, which was incredibly exciting, and although the company had only a few users and no revenue, I decided to join the team. It would be one of the best decisions of my life.”.

Through her statement, it was clear that she was quite interested in working for that search engine who later became The Giant named Google.

Though she was an active employee at google still in 2006, she worked on the company’s acquisition of YouTube and in the same year she also worked on its purchase of advertising technology company DoubleClick. Through her work, it was noticeable that she was dedicated to her work.

You must have heard about Google AdSense products, Susan Wojcicki also played a key role i developing those products.

Google AdSense products have been used for online advertisement which is the best revenue generator for Google and also for its parent company, Alphabet.

Later in 2014, Susan became a prominent personality at YouTube, as CEO. She was the one who made YouTube the Giant video platform. also through YouTube, she generated more than a billion dollars. She was quite busy attracting more users worldwide so she ignored the fact that she should introduce new kinds of advertising and subscription services like YouTubeTV, and YouTube Music. However, after her huge success with YouTube users, she turned to paying attention to these sides of advertisements.

After getting lots of success and fame from YouTube and Google, in 2023, she decided to go underground and focus on her personal life such as family, health, and other stuff. She left her post of CEO at YouTube.

Other than being the most prominent executive, she was also known as the best advocate for paid parental leave in Silicon Valley.

In 2014, she noticed that in America, ladies were not granted paid parental leave, it was required in some states but not assigned by the federal government. So, in her journal, she wrote that at the time when she joined Goggle, she was pregnant with her first baby and on that journal writing time, she was about to have her fifth child and will have a maternity leave again.

She was very clear about her words that “ support for motherhood should not be a matter of luck, it should be a matter of course”.

She was the lady who lived her life to the fullest, she was a complete lady in her career as well as in her personal life. She was a famous personality not just in California but worldwide. At the time of death, she was with her husband and their four children.
